Les Colporteurs
Le Chas du Violon & Evohé / The Stars
Druing Göteborgs Kulturkalas, the festival presents the two pieces Le Chas du Violon and Evohé by French funambulist group Les Colporteurs. Together these two pieces form a bigger piece called The Stars, which is free of charge for anyone to enjoy at the Kulturkalas area in Trädgårdsföreningen.
The Stars is an uplifting, yet down to earth performance reminding us that our lives balance on a thin wire. If you trip, things don’t always go the way you planned.
The Stars consist of two breath taking pieces, Le Chas du Violon (2014), with Agathe and the daughter Coline Rigot and Evohé (2015) with Julia Figuière and Julien Posada.
In one of the numbers, a mother and her daughter rocks the tightrope right in front of us – in high heels! In the other part of the piece we meet a pair of lovebirds, playfully and dramatically untangling their way towards each other on the tightrope. The audience is treated to a daring exhibition of tightrope performance where the four dancers make anything seem possible!
Les Colporteurs consists of married couple Agathe Olivier and Antoine Rigot. Their work often exists in the intersection between circus, theatre and music. The couple met in 1979 while they were both studying at a circus school in Paris. They put on their own performances and toured with then newly formed Cirque de Soleil. In 1996 they formed the company Peddlers, whose performance Filao (loosely based on Italo Calvinos novel The Baron in the Trees) became a massive success, performed over 200 times in France, Spain, Austria, Germany and the USA.
In May 2000 Antoine was seriously injured in an accident, and he is still unable to perform on the tightrope. Today, besides being an actor and musician, he has taken on the role as director, as is the case with this performance The Stars.
The Stars was created as an out-door performance and has toured parks and other public areas since summer 2015. In the piece the audience is treated to several magical dance numbers and ground-breaking dance, defying the laws of gravity.
So make sure to secure your seat for the outstanding stars of Les Colporteurs and experience clever, dream like scenes performed by some of the best tightrope performers in the world.
The performance is fee of charge for everyone to enjoy as a part of Barnens Kulturkalas in Trädgårdsföreningen.
