Karcocha
Urban Imbalance
A modern harlequin of the streets. Improvisation, clowning, mime and acrobatics join when Karcocha turns the street into a living stage. Passers-by are given the opportunity to laugh along, to be surprised and to take part in a playful game when the everyday becomes theatre and when every encounter becomes a little discovery.
Karcocha is a harlequin figure who comes to life in chance meetings with those around him. His work is based on improvisation and his performances lack clear beginnings and definite endings. Something is always prepared, but the public never knows what to expect.
Karcocha plays with double entendre, reverse psychology and physical games that unfailingly bring the spectators into the action. He watches those watching and sometimes lets the roles reverse so that the viewer is at the center of the story. With gestures, silences and physical clarity, his artistry expresses humor, gentleness and surprise. The absurd grows poetic, the everyday is charged with new meaning.
