Chula the Clown
Perhaps, Perhaps… Quizás
A love story without words about refusing to lose hope
Perhaps, Perhaps… Quizás is a heartbreaking and funny performance that, from all imaginable angles, looks at our fear of loneliness and our longing for happy endings. In a time when nobody any longer seems to be impressed by anything, the dream of “true love” becomes a struggle for all of us.
Without any words, but with an expressivity that everyone understands, we follow Chulah into her world. A woman alone who, again and again, practices the way it will be when “the right one” finally shows up. She puts on her wedding gown, makes up her face and practices being beautiful. Every time she’s so very hopeful. Perhaps, perhaps…
This performance, created with minimal gestures and facial expressions, quickly draws audiences into the game. If we like, we can help out by humming “here comes the bride” or by taking the role of a longed-for partner. It’s really funny and fun, full of unexpected twists and turns and, at the same time, deeply moving.
A performance without words about love, longing and the hope that, one day, someone will answer: yes!
