A prisoner dreams about flying. In the loneliness of his cell he plays, he invents a friend and a fantasy language of his own. The memory of revolutionary songs and the dream of a better world fill him with hope and melancholy. Captured between nightmare and reality, he relives his past.
A wild, absurd and yet gentle universe takes shape in the performance space. Two figures in prison clothes, an iron cot and some cushions are all that’s needed to perform a marriage of playfulness and madness. Acrobatics are combined with physical comedy, a cappella song and rhythms tapped out on assorted junk.
The prize-winning company Caillasse throws the public straight into the history of rebellion in their show Le Guichet. They embody the poetry and power of resistance with raw, burlesque and, at times, bitter humor. Witness play, music and corporeal virtuosity in a performance that lets mischief and beauty exist side by side.
