Festival Conference
Festival Conference
The 2016 festival conference, The role of the performing arts in a rapidly changing world, centers on the relationship between the performing arts and social responsibility in light of the single most pressing political and humanitarian issue this year: the reception and treatment of refugees seeking a new future in Europe.
The current state of the world provides a framework for artmaking. We are witnessing drastic changes in attitude, effort, stakes, and ultimately self-image. What is the place and role of the arts in this? What is the position of the artist? How do we act in a rapidly changing world?
The conference connects social and global movements with performing arts activism – art as/and social change. We want to shed light on the role of the arts in society through a discussion that aims to be groundbreaking and inclusive, all at the same time.
Welcome to a lunch to lunch event aiming at exploring and discussing the role of performing arts in a rapidly changing world, together with invited artists, researchers and activists. Each day begins with a key note speech, followed by three parallell workshops/seminars, concluding with a closing panel.
