Gothenburg dance and theatre festival open call for two curatorial assignments. To create an interesting and multifaceted program, the festival works in various ways with a number of collaborations. Now we are looking for more perspectives on two specific areas in the performing arts. Call for Co-curator Nordic performing art

Are you working in the framework of Nordic contemporary performing arts? Do you have previous experience of programming for the stage or site specific spaces? Do you have an idea for Nordic festival programme that you would like to realise?

We are currently looking for an experienced programmer to join our artistic process as co-curator for a Nordic performing arts programme within our festival. You should have previous experience in curating an artistic programme for the stage; for a venue, a festival or a similar event.  You need to have an extensive network in the performing art field in the Nordic countries as well as in your local context. It is important that you have documented experience from performing art production, such as festival production, performing art production/presenting as the mission also inquires that you understand the technical, and logistic needs of planning and preparing for an artistic work to be presented on stage.

Gothenburg Dance and Theatre Festival 2020

The Gothenburg Dance and Theatre Festival is an international performing arts festival, taking place every other year for ten days in August, in the city of Gothenburg with surroundings. The festival was founded in 1994 and has ever since invited international artists to share their stories with audiences and local professionals. For the next festival in 2020 we are now looking for two curators that can contribute to the programming from their different perspectives.

Assignment

The assigment is to co-curate a defined programme of emerging contemporary Nordic performing art works in one of our venues and/or possibly site specific. The programme will run over a maximum of 3 days, and minimum 1 day and will be part of the official programme of the 2020 edition of Gothenburg Dance and Theatre Festival.  Your independent research will be matched with the requests of the general festival programming board. Communication will be mostly digital but a few meetings in Gothenburg during the period are required. The intended venues and other practical conditions will be discussed in the startup of the assignment.

Duration

From June to September 2019 and equivalent of 1 month full time over this period. The negotiated fee will have to cover all expenses included in the assignment and can be invoiced after the completed assignment in October 2019.

We are currently looking for an experienced urban dance programmer to join our artistic process as co-curator for an urban dance evening within our festival. You should have previous experience in curating an artistic programme for the stage, for a festival or a similar event.  We would like to see that you have an extensive network within urban dance in your local context as well as internationally. It is important that you have documented experience from performing art production, such as festival production, performing art production/presenting as the mission will also inquire that you understand the technical, and logistic needs of planning and preparing for an artistic work to be presented on stage.

Stora Teatern is a traditional proscenium theatre and seats 400 audience and we are looking for someone who is interested, with experience and with great ideas of how a contemporary urban dance programme to fit or contract against this setting. Your independent research will be matched with the requests of the general festival programming board. Communication will be mostly digital but a few meetings in Gothenburg during the period are required. The intended venues and other practical conditions will be discussed in the startup of the assignment.
